🎃 Spooky and Safe: Top 10 Halloween Safety Tips for Kids

By Sensei Andy | Koku-Ryu Martial Arts (KRMA)

Halloween is nearly here! The costumes, the sweets, the spooky fun—it’s a magical time of year for children. But at KRMA, we know that with excitement must come awareness and safety.

To help make your Halloween night a safe and unforgettable experience, here are our Top 10 Halloween Safety Rules to follow:

Halloween Safety Tips 1

1️⃣ Never Go in Strangers’ Homes

No matter how friendly someone seems, always stay at the door. Collect your sweets from the doorstep—never go inside.

Halloween Safety Tip 2

2️⃣ Only Take Sweets in Original Wrappers

Choose sealed, original packaging only. Avoid homemade or unwrapped treats unless you know the person well.

Halloween Safety Tip 3

3️⃣ Look Both Ways Before Crossing Roads

Halloween brings crowds and traffic. Always stop, look left and right, and use crosswalks when crossing the road.

Halloween Safety Tip 4

4️⃣ Make a Halloween Battle Plan

Plan your trick-or-treat route ahead of time and share it with your grown-ups so they know where you’ll be.

Halloween Safety Tip 5

5️⃣ Never Go Alone – Always Go in a Group

There’s safety in numbers. Trick-or-treating with friends or family makes the night more fun and safer.

Halloween Safety Tip 6

6️⃣ Add Bright Colours or Reflective Tape

Choose costumes that are easy to see, or add reflective strips, glow sticks or torches so you’re visible in the dark.

Halloween Safety Tip 7

7️⃣ Bring a Torch (Even if You Have a Phone!)

Use a flashlight or phone torch to help see where you’re going. Uneven paths, steps, and spooky surprises can be tricky in the dark!

Halloween Safety Tips 8

8️⃣ Don’t Throw Eggs or Mischief – It’s Not Cool

Halloween is about fun and kindness, not damage or pranks. Respect homes, cars, and neighbours. Let’s show our best behaviour.

Halloween Safety Tips 9

9️⃣ Be Respectful and Share

Say please and thank you, even in costume. Some homes may not celebrate Halloween—be kind and respectful. Share with your friends, too!

Halloween Safety Tip 10

🔟 Most Important: Have LOTS of Fun!

Enjoy the laughter, the sweets, the creativity, and the magic. If you follow the rules above, you’ll have a safe, spooky, and spectacular night!
