KRMA at the WMAC English Open 2025: Team England Qualification Secured

Every KRMA competitor qualified for WMAC Team England at the WMAC English Open 2025. The event at Chase Leisure Centre in Cannock was a qualifier for the 2025 WMAC World Championships and marked the third year running that the KRMA team had qualified.

A World Championship Qualifier

The English Open gave competitors an opportunity to secure qualification for the World Championships. KRMA’s results reflected performances across fighting, kata, forms and weapons categories.

KRMA’s English Open Results

The published results recorded:

  • 23 first-place results

  • 17 second-place results

  • 3 third-place results

Among the first-place results were Emily Blackburn in Women’s Points Fighting; Oliver Devine, Sensei Kara Stothard, Toby Blake and Sensei Samantha Stothard in Traditional Kata; and Sofia Devine and Noah Humphreys in Creative Forms.

Anja Clapson achieved first place in Traditional Weapons. Aimee Banks recorded first-place results in Creative Weapons and Kumite, while Sensei Jamie Ellis and Sensei Andrew Banks also achieved first place in Kumite.

These are selected results from the published record, rather than a complete list of placements.

Team England Qualification Secured

The central achievement was that every KRMA competitor qualified for WMAC Team England. It was the third consecutive year that the team had secured qualification.

That gave the competitors a shared milestone as they looked towards the World Championships.

More Than the Medal Table

Placements provide one way to record a competition, but the day also represented the preparation and performance required to take part in a qualifying event.

Recognising the team means celebrating the competitors’ work and the support around them, alongside the individual results.

Looking Ahead

As recorded on 10 February 2025, KRMA’s competitors had secured their places with WMAC Team England. The next chapter was preparation for the 2025 World Championships.

Congratulations to everyone who represented KRMA at the English Open.
